Illustrated inventory of birds
Illustrated inventory of birds contains descriptions and images of 76 birds from around the world.
Emmanuelle Tchoukriel, an illustrator specializing in drawing science, portrayed birds with precision and artistry worthy of naturalists of the past centuries. Before photography was invented around 1830, naturalists drew dead or stuffed birds, their talent making them “come to life” on paper. Emmanuelle Tchoukriel created the engravings for this book by observing live birds and studying numerous photographs.
She made the black contours of the drawings with a rapidograph and Chinese ink. For coloring, she used watercolors, which when applied with varying intensity, perfectly reflect the richness of shades and textures found in nature.
Each figure is provided with a Polish and Latin name, dimensions, area of occurrence, description of the bird's plumage and voice, and other interesting facts about it.
